B-ice-ycling
The overnight freeze in Edinburgh cancelled my cycle to work, as all that slush that people have been complaining about has frozen solid and makes it just too dangerous to try some roads. This gent wasn't to be put off however and bravely picked his way down Argyle Place and then onto Middle Meadow Walk. Melville Drive has been cleared by plough and gritter. Argyle Place has been "cleared" largely by buses, hence the compacted, frozen sheen on the surface. The council eventually sent a couple of mini-ploughs out to do the bottom (flat bit) of Middle Meadow Walk. The slope up to Forrest Road was left uncleared. All of the connecting paths were left uncleared - so if you manage to cycle get onto the cleared section, you can't cycle out of it! They might as well have saved themselves the effort of making this token gesture.
