[Image taken 15.5.23] The Stonebow, York. This appeared a couple of weeks ago. It fulfils several purposes... This area can feel: devoid of human life; unsafe - motor traffic speeds including by bus drivers are high; empty of plant life (there was a young tree here but it got removed, perhaps following vandalism); and there is no seating. This has changed all of that. Plus the seating arrangement and the location makes each bench feel quite private too. I hope it stays/returns each year. Both people were happy to be photographed. The woman was bottle feeding her baby. The man had three-quarters of an hour to while away while waiting for someone. I think this is part of a project from The York Bid (www.theyorkbid.com/). In recent years it has supported pollination: www.theyorkbid.com/ Other image today and links: #193973.
