[UPDATE: On 24.5.23 I saw these works had finished/the items have all been removed.] [Image taken 30.4.23] York Road, Haxby, close to the ring road. To reach the Haxby Cycleway from Haxby, people on cycles need to cross the (busy, fast) road to reach this two-way (also not ideal) route. Not every person on a cycle can dismount. The ramp is at right angles to the kerb. It was not easy on a standard cycle to make a 90 degree turn to get onto the pavement. I doubt someone on a trike or a handcycle would have room to do it. The space to manoeuvre is limited too - drivers are coming fast off the roundabout towards you. There was no information board (like this one: #166254) saying which organisation is doing the works, who to contact, how long the cycle route will be blocked. I will send my images to the CYC walking and cycling officer. Other images of this problem here today: #193507, #193508. Other image and links today: #193497.
