[Image taken 13.4.23] Library Square, York. Pre covid (lockdown came into force on 23 March 2020) the racks at this location – the main York library (exploreyork.org.uk/) - were often full. It still doesn’t feel as if usage has returned to those levels. So I was really pleased to see them so well used today – the second week of the Easter school holidays. Regrettably the other thing that changed here was in 2021… It seemed everywhere that sold meals and drinks turned to selling online with delivery via companies such as Deliveroo. The pickup drivers started to use (see: #167118, #177857) Library Square to leave their vehicles – including on the blue badge parking spaces (see: #174133) – while they collect the orders. I also can’t recall seeing so many taxi drivers and general motorists (see: #181631) picking up/dropping off and/or turning round here. There was a CYC van plus another vehicle here today as I went into the library, came out and while I took the photos and talked to a couple of cyclists. Safe ‘people’ spaces have become de facto motor vehicle spaces. Other images here today: #192951, #192952. Other images today: #192953, #192954, #192955, #192961, #192962, #192963, #192964.
