[Image taken 24.10.22] Looking into High Petergate from the junction with Duncombe Place, York. Since March 2020 it's been open to cyclists at all times - in the direction of the arrow/towards the camera. (yorkcyclecampaign.bike/2020/03/03/opening-high-petergate/) It's a critical link for people on cycles. It also reduces congestion for other road users on St Leonard's Place - the route we/NCN65 followed before we could use High Petergate. It's noticeably much less polluted. This morning - at 11.55 - the route was completely blocked. The person on the cycle ahead of me got off and walked round this obstacle. But would the driver have seen her had s/he been ready to move off?
