[Image taken 22.10.22] M X Park, Monks Cross Drive, Huntington, York YO32 9GZ. [NOTE: No street view yet at this location] Positives: there is cycle parking; it's covered; there's no kerb (compare with: #186444); there is 210cm of space between the racks and the tarmac. Problems: the location – it’s very far from any of the units other than the one it is next to (I think most people will be visiting Screwfix); the uprights are too close together - just 75cm apart. This is too close for even unladen cycles let alone at a location people will be arriving to make purchases – Screwfix; may well be doing it with children/other dependants onboard or sharing locks; be doing it as part of a trip chain - the reason Screwfix is here is due to the residential developments planned nearby, so perhaps between work and home or study and home, etc; be doing it ahead of or before going to the supermarkets nearby. In short many/most people will have luggage that is either in use or in situ ready to be used and luggage is bulky. Other problems: cycles stowed here are not protected from vehicle movements, nor are the cyclists when stowing or removing their rigs; the space ahead of/in front of the uprights and the edge of the canopy is just 74cm – this does not accommodate cycles that are longer in front; there’s an upstand of 3cm (see: #187060); the end spaces are wasted: #187062 and it’s default motorcycle parking. I also couldn’t tell if it was lit. Fiddling with keys, locks and buckles in the dark or in shadow created by injudiciously placed lighting is frustrating. I’ll report it to planning as it does not meet even the minimum requirements for spacing… 100cm between uprights. Though at destinations such as this I think 150cm is best practice and 120cm the absolute minimum. Other images here today: #187061, #187063, #187065, #187066, #187067, #187068, #187069.
