[UPDATE: On 21.7.22 I saw the Road Closed sign had been removed.] [Image taken 17.6.22] Coppergate (Nessgate end) York. Oversized planter. Overkill? The narrow gaps to pass it makes access for people on cycles turning right (from Clifford Street or crossing from King Street) difficult. And stressful. It's noticeably uphill towards Coppergate. Nessgate is not a street you want to hang around on. Plus, your view of what's happening the other side of the planter - someone in a wheelchair crossing - is hugely compromised. Planters made of wood - like this one - can be calming pieces of infra. However this one is far too large. Other image of this location today: #183629.
