[Image taken 16.3.22] Bootham, York. The second vehicle is large and not untypical of the traffic that uses this key route. The advisory cycle lanes do not meet current guidelines. Yet people on cycles pass vehicles this size and larger when the driver is stopped at lights. However, there is no ASL ahead of the temporary lights. When people on cycles and Tier hire scooters reach the front of the queue there is no way for them to enter the line of traffic and safely position themselves in the visible assertive position in the centre of the lane. There are single lanes signs either side of the works but drivers do not read these as 'Do not overtake cyclists'. Other image this issue today: #180125. Other images today: #180123 and links.
