[Image taken 11.1.22] York: Marygate Lane junction with Railway Walk (to the right). The tunnel to Bootham Terrace under the York-Scarborough rail line is behind the camera position. [NOTE: No streetview at this location.] Steps (with cycle runner) to St Mary's at first opening on left: #175872. I went out to take images here on a very quiet and sunny day ahead of the works starting (an email from CYC said it would be 17.1.22) on the ped-cycle crossing over Bootham. The aim is to link the rail station and the hospital (www.york.gov.uk/local-democracy/scarborough-bridge-bootham-park-cycle-route-improvements). The long-term plan is to extend the traffic-free route between the rail line and the hospital (democracy.york.gov.uk/ieDecisionDetails.aspx). Approval was granted to the proposed schemes as outlined and progress to detailed design in option 1;" There will be a slope in place of the steps. I am concerned about the width of the slope, the lighting, and the effect of new users on the space here as it is often already very busy. The cobbles are to remain.
