[UPDATE: 26.7.23. A reply today from a FoI request says:
"We can confirm that all junctions on the section of Aldwark south of its junction with St Andrewgate are on the prioritised list which will shortly be passed through to colleagues in our Highways team to start to working their way down. Please note there is a finite budget of £40K this financial year for dropped kerbs outside the area which is being dealt with in the core of the city centre on routes affected by pavement cafes. That area has its own budget which cannot be used for these sites. The Aldwark sites are currently third on the priority list behind a couple of other sites where there are serious safety concerns. The number of Aldwark junctions which will get tackled will be dependent on how much of the budget remains after the first two sites on the list are tackled. If it becomes clear that there is insufficient budget remaining to address all of the Aldwark junctions within the £40K budget then those which have no dropped kerb whatsoever will be done as the priority."]

Other images this issue: #175353, #175354. The image was taken to show the lack of dropped kerbs to/from the pavement. For this reason the tarmac ‘road’ is critical for people with wheeled walkers, wheeled shopping bags, in mobility scooters and pushing buggies. The plans for the five-week closure must ensure level access for people with mobility issues and others who need it. Other images today: #175350.
