[Image taken 7.10.21] Bootham Terrace, York COUNT. Murky morning. Between 07.55 and 8.25 I did a count of who passed through the underpass of the York-Scarborough rail line [see: #174587. ]
COUNT RESULT: In 30 minutes 1230 people on foot and on cycles. Most people were crossing as here: pupils, dog walkers. Some came down the slope and turned left perhaps to reach the rail station or the other side of the city. A few came out from the underpass and turned right. Only around five motor vehicles. One driver turned round. One seemed to stop and wait. Curiously no children on scooters which had been a feature of my observations around this time last year at the pop-up, coned-off, covid corridor (see: #166422) in Marygate car park ahead of the consultation that drastically reduced the width of that route. Perhaps they are younger and I was too early? I didn't see the child-carrying cycles either, though I did see adults cycling with children on child seats. #174658, #174659, #174660. Other image today: #174661.
