[Image taken: 4.4.21] Terry Avenue, York. The date of closure for year-long works for the Clementhorpe Flood Alleviation Scheme was pushed back several times. (It finally closed on Monday 17 May 2021.) I went out today to take images to help people remember what we've lost. I believe this is a public health disaster for the city. The country was still in covid-19 lockdown. People in wheelchairs and mobility scooters disappeared during the pandemic. Likely shielding. Their number did not recover before Terry Ave closed. The works do not include any flood protection for the stretch of Terry Ave passing the park. The Environment Agency have never formally acknowledged that Terry Ave was as much a destination as a through route to schools, shops, work, universities: #169084. Text/explanation: #168828. Diversion route map: #168829. Overview and links #164095. Other random visitor images from today see also: #169587, #169588, #169589, #169590, #169591, #169592, #169593, #169594, #169595, #169596.
