[Image taken 6.3.21] Myriad, multi-coloured Sheffields in front of the Information Centre at the University of York. See the 'before' image #165053.
On 18.3.21, the University replied to questions about the provision. (See also: #165049 for oversized spaces.) It said:
Market Square bike parking
The rainbow cycle racks were installed in Market Square in late November 2020, in response to feedback from our annual Travel and Transport survey of staff and students that there wasn’t enough bike parking in this part of campus.
This area previously (and still has) a row of 14 sheffield hoops (providing 20 bike spaces)
The new rainbow racks provide space for an additional 80 bikes and are permanent on campus, though as they are moveable we can reorganise them within the space should that be needed in the future.
