A pop-up contraflow cycle lane has been installed on Argyle Street under Central Station, and other westbound traffic eliminated, in order to provide more space for pedestrians on the opposite footway. Temporary 'No Entry' signs have been provided on Argyle Street, one of which has an 'except cyclists' plate below (instead of the more usual 'except cycles').
